Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Clean Alamitos Beach  is an organized effort that focuses on picking up litter in our neighborhood. Our goal is to make Alamitos Beach CLEANER: less litter on our sidewalks, in our gutters, on our parkways, in our alleys...  and studies have shown that "cleaner" can indirectly lead to "safer".

Joining Clean Alamitos Beach is simple! Just head over to our website and check out our open blocks that need adopted. We will help you identify the best block(s) available if you need assistance. Drop us a line (text, phone, or email).

Tools

  1. Gloves
  2. Trash bags of any size. My favorites are the "shopping bags" of area stores because I use a bike but if I am walking on my own, then a larger bag is better.
  3. Whisk broom and dustpan (use a full broom if you'd like!)
  4. Trash grabber. I don't use one, but many folks do! They are $10 on Amazon and $2 at Harbor Freight next to the 405 off of Atlantic in the Bixby Knolls area

It takes from 15 minutes to a half hour a day. Severely trashed alley blocks can take up to an hour but once they are cleaned the first time, your next effort won't take as long!

No. You will also be using the "GO Long Beach" app on your smart phone to log bulky items found in alleys, sidewalks, and streets. The city's Public Works department will schedule these items to be picked up. A demo of this is forthcoming.
